Lompoc Aquatic Center Review - Santa Barbara County Public Pool

Posted by San Luis Obispo Mom on Saturday, July 6, 2024, In : For Kids

We drove 1 hour yesterday to specifically go to the Lompoc Aquatic Center to enjoy their two hours of recreation time that the City of Lompoc reserves for families and recreational play each day in the summer! The kids really had a great time!

It had waterslides on either end of the pool area. On the far end, the kids would have to be at least 48 inches to ride those waterslides. If they were not tall enough, they could go on the smaller ones on the opposite side. Even though it was a far d...

Tito's Red Tacos Pismo Beach Review

Posted by San Luis Obispo Mom on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, In : Restaurants
Tito's Red Tacos in Pismo Beach got a lot of viral PR before it even opened! The restaurant is owned by a restauranteur who has opened successful restaurants around San Luis Obispo County (Pismo Beach is part of San Luis Obispo County).

There is a belief from a video that was recorded and posted on the internet that he didn't care for the locals.

Well, I'm a local and I dine at many local restaurants around San Luis Obispo County. I watched the recording and I found that maybe he thought h...

HerScan Review and Personal Mammogram Experience

Posted by San Luis Obispo Mom on Thursday, October 5, 2023, In : Mom Life
HerScan Appointment

HerScan is a breast cancer screening service using ultrasound. I found out about Herscan from a friend who is an RN and decided to book an appointment.

I had just turned 40 and my nurse practitioner left the medical office that I had been going to for the past couple of years. This is the 3rd nurse practioner in the past 4 years who have left the area. Instead of waiting around or calling around to schedule a check up that might take months for an availability, I figured I'd go ahead and sc...

Barbie World Fantasy Things To Do in San Luis Obispo - California

Posted by San Luis Obispo Mom on Thursday, July 27, 2023, In : Romantic
With the Barbie movie getting a lot of hype and a lot of people are dressing up in their pretty pink, I couldn't help with recollect places that I've visited that reminds me of Barbie.
Pink Drink at Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo at Their Bar(I ordered a pink drink at the Silver Bar Cocktail Lounge at Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo.)

Here's my list of Suggested Barblie-like Things To Do in San Luis Obispo County:
  1. It's a no brainer for my first pick. The pretty pink boutique motel called Madonna Inn is our iconic Barbie place to be in San Luis Obispo. ...

Solvang Visit in July and Hotel Corque Review

Posted by San Luis Obispo Mom on Thursday, July 28, 2022, In : Solvang
We did an overnight stay in Solvang, the famous Danish town in America, earlier this week. It's our first Solvang visit for this year.

Ever since we moved to San Luis Obispo (SLO) County, we've visited Solvang at least twice a year. It's less than an hour drive from our house as we live on the southern part of SLO County. What I've noticed from years of visiting here is there's always a crowd during the day and then the evenings are very quiet in the entire Solvang Village area.

Here's a pi...

MOXI in Santa Barbara, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation

Posted by San Luis Obispo Mom on Sunday, March 20, 2022, In : Santa Barbara
Lucky for us, Santa Barbara is only an hour and fifteen minute drive south from our area as it's only the next county over from San Luis Obispo County.
Front Entrance of MOXI Santa Barbara
We've learned more about MOXI, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation, from Blippi, the clown from YouTube! We really wanted to encourage the kids to visit a museum again, now that the mask mandate has been lifted and things are getting back to a more normal. At first, the kids were not up for a drive so I showed a video of MOXI from Blipp...

Our Robot Server at Meet Up Chinese Cuisine in Santa Barbara

Posted by San Luis Obispo Mom on Friday, February 25, 2022, In : Santa Barbara
I'm so excited to say that I've been served by an AI robot server at a restaurant in Santa Barbara yesterday at Meet Up Chinese Cuisine Restaurant!

Her name is Shao Tu and she's smart and prompt.

We ordered a small wonton soup, potstickers, beef chow fun and yang chow fried rice!

The restaurant is kind of tucked in so if you missed a turn, it'll take a few minutes to get back around to find it again. However, the place is a true treasure find! We can't wait to come back. Santa Barbara a...

Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum in December

Posted by SanLuisObispoMom.com on Sunday, December 8, 2019, In : Santa Barbara
We went to the Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum today since we were in the area for a Lowe's visit. Santa Maria is part of Santa Barbara County but since we live in South County area of San Luis Obispo county, it's only a 20 minute drive for us.

It's the holiday season so the inside of the museum was decked with Christmas decorations! To our surprise, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus were there too! We came on a special holiday event and were able to get our kids to take a picture with them!

Wine Tasting in Buellton near Solvang

Posted by SanLuisObispoMom.com on Monday, July 22, 2019, In : Santa Barbara
Have you ever watched the movie Sideways? It's a story about two San Diego State University alumni (like me!) who decided to go to Buellton in Santa Barbara County for some wine-tasting adventure as a bachelor party. It's a wonderful story and very comical.

Lucky for us, Buellton is only an hour south drive from here! It's also on the way to Solvang, the Danish Capital of America. In Buellton, there is a main street where you can hit many wine tasting rooms within the same block called Indust...

Rooftop Restaurant at Inn at the Pier Review in Pismo Beach

Rooftop Pismo Beach Menu Review
A dear friend from the Bay Area came down and visited me. I wanted to take her to a special place where a successful yuppie like her would appreciate. After some research online, I decided to take her to The Rooftop at Inn at the Pier hotel in Pismo Beach that overlooks the pier and ocean. It was absolutely the right pick!

The entrance to the hotel took a bit of time to figure out because it's on the opposite end of the beach parking lot. However, once we got on the property, I instantly fel...

Avila Valley Barn Review & Pictures - Free Visit to See Farm Animals

Posted by SanLuisObispoMom.com on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, In : Farms
The best part about Avila Valley Barn is that it's free to visit the farm animals here! There are dozens and dozens of goats! There are also chickens, ponies, cows, sheep and other animals! You can buy some lettuce to feed at their store to feed the the goats and this made it a very wonderful experience for the kids.

We also took advantage of their pony ride, extra fee, for the kids. It's a short ride but my 2 year old thoroughly enjoyed every second of it!

If you're hungry, you can al...
